I'm a reasonable woman and have an open mind when it comes to literature. From the Divine Comedy to Tristessa, from Crooked Little Vein to Wuthering Heights. From Twilight to 50 Shades. And I must say I enjoyed the story. I enjoyed picking Christian apart- his psychology. The dynamic between Christian and Anastasia. The relationship between Anastasia and Ray. I was very caught up in it. Very emotional. So emotional, in fact, that the sex scenes didn't interest me past their connection to Mr. Grey's damaged psyche.
I will agree the book can get redundant. And that it could have been better written. But aside from the fact that EL James is no Bronte sister or Dan Brown, it was very satisfying. Amateur. But satisfying. I do believe it is ignorant and unfair to categorize the demographic of who would enjoy this book.

I don't see why Ian couldn't pull off a 27 going on 28 year old. he is supposed to act the part of someone who is matured beyond his years. as Flynn says in the book its his emtional world that has to play catch up. so we should't be looking for someone that has the mental maturity of a 27 year old but more someone with mental maturity of a 30-35 year (giving reference to his business accomplishments) but they must also have the emotianal maturity of an adolescent. why would that be hard for Ian to portray?

Ok sure maybe he doesn't have the height... then get a shorter girl, its amazing what different camera angels can do. Height problem solved lol. like i said in my previous comment, he is Christian Grey in my mind.

Google Ian Somerhalder as Christian Grey images. theres a picture of him wearing grey contacts and has copper (blondish) highlights. look at that picture and then ask yourself.. is that not exactly CG.

Plus there are quite a few scenes that require Christian to have facial hair (stubble). it takes a lot for a man to look hot, with AND without facial hair, and Ian most definately takes 1st prize for that among the rest of the contenders
